Boys Soccer: Broad Run's Reitzel is Named Region II Player of the Year; Tuscarora's Gryder Coach of the Year


(June 7, 2011) - Broad Run High School senior Kevin Reitzel, who leads the Spartans into a 7 p.m. state quarterfinal contest at home tonight, has been named Region II boys soccer Player of the Year in a vote of the region's coaches. Tuscarora's Dave Gryder, who has his first-year Huskies in the state tournament with no seniors on the roster, was named Coach of the Year.

Friday Playoff Schedule: Three Lax Teams Open State Tournament; Six Loudoun Teams Play for Region II Titles; 11 Total in Action!

(June 3, 2011) - A very busy June Friday playoff schedule has three Loudoun lacrosse teams on the road as the state tournament opens and six teams playing locally for Region II titles and the chance to host a state quarterfinal on Tuesday. 
The Briar Woods boys lacrosse team is at Albemarle while the Loudoun Valley girls are facing Madison at Marshall and the Woodgrove girls travel to Osbourn

Bealeton (June 3, 2011) - The Tuscarora High School boys soccer team, a first-year program with no seniors, is headed to the VHSL AA state tournament after the Huskies shocked Kettle Run, 2-1 in overtime, on Angel Ceron-Garcia's goal with 15.6 seconds left in the sudden death OT period.

Ashburn (June 3, 2011) - Broad Run High School claimed a pair of state playoff berths in boys and girls soccer following Region II semifinal wins Thursday.

The Spartan girls took the field first, defeating John Handley High School, 7-1, in convincing fashion.

(June 2, 2011) - The Dulles District had perhaps one of its greatest days in Region II history, going a perfect 7-for-7 in semifinal contests and setting up all-Dulles District regional finals in boys and girls soccer as well as softball.
