GAME PREVIEW

Power Electronics Valencia head coach

"We are playing against a great team, but in the sceond half in Athens we already showed that we can compete against them. We are playing the Game of the Week again and that is something that motivates us, we are happy that the Euroleague respects our team and our game. Olympiacos is, of course, favorite to win this game and even win the Final Four in Barcelona in May. I don't like much talking about them. They are a great team with great history, but one might think that talking too well about the rival before the game is already looking for excuses before playing and that's not true. We expect a hard game and Olympiacos is the best team in our group. Against them in the first game we didn't play well the first two quarters, but improved a lot in the second half. I am sure that now, playing at home, with the help of our fans, we will find the extra motivation we

Two teams fighting for survival in Top 16 Group G meet again in the Turkish Airlines Euroleague Game of the Week, with Power Electronics hosting Olympiacos in Valencia, Spain on Thursday night. Olympiacos (2-1) will seal its ticket to the Quarterfinal Playoffs if it beats Valencia (1-2) and Fenerbahce Ulker (3-0) downs Zalgiris (0-3) in Kaunas, Lithuania. It is sure to be a very special game for Olympiacos power forward Matt Nielsen, who returns to Valencia for the first time since leading Power Electronics to the Eurocup title last season. Nielsen, who earned Eurocup Finals MVP honors, leads the Reds' frontcourt along with rock-solid big man Ioannis Bourousis. Olympiacos has more options around the basket, such as former Valencia center Loukas Mavrokefalides, sharp shooter Zoran Erceg and experience center Rasho Nesterovic. Nielsen faces a critical matchup against Dusko Savanovic, whose post skills and deep shooting range could make the difference in this game. Bourousis and Nesterovic will have to battle hard under the boards, as Valencia has three very good offensive rebounders in Serhiy Lishchuk, Robertas Javtokas and James Augustine. At the same time, Olympiacos must find the way to stop Valencia's main options at both wings, sharp shooter Rafa Martinez and explosive forward Victor Claver. Versatile forward Florent Pietrus and recently signed scoring guard David Navarro will give Valencia a boost off the bench. Claver must make the most out of his athleticism, size and ball-handling ability against defensive stopper Michalis Pelekanos. Martinez will not have it easy against the more experienced Vassilis Spanoulis. Combo guard Jamon Lucas, experienced shooter Yotam Halperin and up-and-coming small forward Kostas Papanikolaou can all play major roles in this game. The point guard battle will be very interesting, as Theo Papaloukas, who has been is in great shape recently, provides court sense and leadership off the bench. Moreover, reigning Euroleague MVP Milos Teodosic is ready to showcase his passing skills and creativity against Omar Cook. Nando De Colo will try to put Papaloukas in trouble with his penetration skills and high basketball IQ. Valencia must run its offense through Savanovic and Claver, as well as having a very good defensive game, to maximize its chances. Olympiacos must expect a good game from Bourousis and Nesterovic in the paint and rely on its talented backcourt to make the difference. Expect a sellout crowd at Fuente de San Luis ready for a truly exciting, decisive Top 16 game on Thursday.
